Sunset cosmos stands sentenial over our Kumara.Providing a little shade, insect food and they are beautiful dancing in the wind.

Deer Roar

A tramp and fly camp to hear the deer roar.

Luffa

Luffa have the most beautiful flowers -even when the petals have gone. They like a long hot growing season and share their stakes happily with beans.

This year the luffa forms the warm, western side of a tunnel. It is sheltered on its eastern side by another row of beans and our pickling cucumbers.

Jobs Tears

We are growing our beads this year.

The bead/ovary is formed around the flower parts so that when it dries the bead is hollow. Amazing!!!

Lashing

A few basic knots, some rope, some bamboo and some tall trees............

Most of the fun is in the making.

Gourd harvest

Gourd harvest time!!!

Toby grew this Gourd plant into a shady summer hut in the garden. The gourds will now dry overwinter and be turned into lampshades, scoops, shakers, funnels.......

Crab fishing

What a day!!!

An incoming tide, sand, water, a few simple tools and a whole lot of children = fun.

We made sand castles, crab traps, handlines, tide pools, clay sculptures, water fountains........................ another successful toddler hikoi.
